Kashi Vishwanath Temple
The Sacred Golden Jyotirlinga of Lord Shiva

Kashi Vishwanath is the spiritual heart of Varanasi, dedicated to Lord Shiva as Vishweshwara (Ruler of the Universe) and revered as one of the 12 sacred Jyotirlingas. The current stone temple was rebuilt by Maharani Ahilyabai Holkar in 1780, with iconic gold spires donated by Maharaja Ranjit Singh in 1835. The modern Kashi Vishwanath Corridor directly connects the holy sanctum with the stone steps of the holy Ganga.
