Situated at the center of the expansive Banaras Hindu University campus, the New Vishwanath Temple (commonly called Birla Temple or VT) was envisioned by Mahamana Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya and constructed by the Birla family. Built in pure marble, its soaring 77-meter spire is the tallest in India. Uniquely egalitarian, the temple welcomes visitors of all religions, castes, and creeds without distinction.
